Baby joy! Dannii Minogue is a yummy mummy
With new son Ethan, the X Factor judge will be dressing in some loose tops

Wednesday, 7 July 2010

X Factor queen Dannii Minogue has given birth to a baby boy named Ethan Edward Smith. Dannii and her boyfriend, model Kris Smith, welcomed their son into the world in a Melbourne hospital on Monday. The Australian singer met Kris two years ago in Ibiza – and weirdly, as Dannii was giving birth, her sister Kylie was actually launching her new album in… Ibiza!

Just before she became a new mum Dannii wrote on Twitter: ‘Looking forward to catching up on X Factor auditions. Can't wait to see Simon, Cheryl and Louis again – miss them very much.'

So it sounds like Dannii is thinking about life after her bump, so she must have planned her post-baby wardrobe, too. If Dannii is breast-feeding she’s going to need tops that have easy access for the baby, which basically means anything with buttons.

The X Factor star, who is five months pregnant with her first child, stepped out in a mini-dress by Australian label Willow as she arrived for Australia's Got Talent auditions in her hometown of Melbourne. The 38-year-old star is currently in the middle of judging the fourth series of the show, a spin-off of the original British version.

The new series will keep her busy until the final at the end of April, before she will have two months off to prepare for the birth of her baby in early July. Minogue, who has been on Australia's Got Talent since the beginning, is the only judge to return this year.

After wrapping up her X Factor duties in December, Minogue has been busying starring in the new advertisements for Marks & Spencer and working on her own fashion line Project D, which is due for release in Australia later this year. Since arriving in Australia a few weeks ago, Minogue has signed a deal for department store chain David Jones to sell her new collection.   Purple power: Minogue is five months pregnant with her first child
The mother-to-be enthused: 'I am bursting with a lifetime of excitement for the launch of Project D in Australia. 'Fashion has been a passion of mine since I can remember and I hope that every woman who slips on a Project D dress will feel glamorous, yet effortless.'
Minogue's pregnancy means she will miss the initial auditions of the new series of The X Factor, but she is hoping to return in time for the live shows in September.  Radiant: Minogue looked glowing as she arrived at the auditions The singer admitted the Australia's Got Talent show had come at a perfect time because it meant she could enjoy her pregnancy with her family. She said: 'I've always loved this show and there have been certain things that have drawn me back here, and the show has fitted in with that.
'It gives me a lot of personal family time being back home and of course I want to have the baby here. 'I wasn't sure if I would be able to do all this on top of that (having the baby), but it seems to be OK so far.'

"Woo hoo I'm gonna be a mummy!" she wrote on her Twitter page.

The 38-year-old is three months pregnant by her boyfriend, Kris Smith, 31, a former rugby league player. He followed Minogue's message with his own Twitter posting: "Woo hoo I'm gonna be a Daddy."

A spokesman for the X Factor star confirmed: "Dannii and Kris are very excited and can't wait to start their family in 2010." The baby is due in July.

Minogue's pop star sister, Kylie, also responded to the news on Twitter, saying: "OMG OMG OMG Perfect!!!! So happy!!! A new Minogue!"

Rumours about the pregnancy began last week when the couple were spotted emerging from a hospital in Melbourne. However, Minogue did not confirm the news as she was yet to have a 12-week scan.

"Dannii had her 12-week scan this week and was given the results today with the all-clear to make an announcement," the spokesman explained.
